Dr Kalpana Nagappan

Consultant Psychiatrist

Dr Kalpana Nagappan is a Consultant Psychiatrist in Western Australia. She graduated from Queen Mary, University of London after obtaining her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). She completed 5 years of her speciality training in psychiatry within Western Australia to qualify as a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP). She also further completed her psychiatry advance training in consultation-liaison (C-L) psychiatry.

Having worked in the public sector as a C-L Psychiatrist, Dr Kal has the added knowledge and experience in managing the mental health of patients with complex medical comorbidities. Apart from having continuous academic excellence influencing her clinical judgement, Dr Kal has a warm and nurturing personality. She loves dogs and coffee and is always good-humoured.. She respects the therapeutic space with her patients and likes working holistically and collaboratively with the whole family unit.

Dr Kal provides face-to-face assessment and telehealth from the East Perth clinic. She is currently providing assessment and treatment to youth and adults with a special interest in the following areas of psychiatry:

• Perinatal psychiatry and women’s mental health
• ADHD assessments and diagnosis
• Eating disorders
• Gender diversity and dysphoria
• Multicultural psychiatry
• Psychiatric and Psychological illness associated with general medical conditions.
